Sophia Watson
Sophia Started dancing lessons and appeared in her first show aged 2 and a half. Sophia was classically trained in the RAD
and ISTD syllabi by Angela and Philippa Reynolds, joining the Martinicca Theatre School at the age of 8 where Sophia studied
IDTA theatre subjects. Sophia was chosen to be a Sunbeam at the Bradford Alhambra where she appeared in pantomime with
Billy Pearce in 1997. Sophia also appeared in professional productions at the Grand Theatre Leeds, Victoria Theatre Halifax and
the Barbican Theatre York. Sophia studied national dance and competed in National festivals in Manchester, Lancaster and
London. Sophia was nominated for prestigious scholarships a total of three times in Modern Jazz and Ballet through the IDTA.
At the age of 17 Sophia attended Phil Winston’s Theatreworks College and agency in Blackpool
where she performed and studied under the direction of West End professionals and senior IDTA examiners. In 2003, Sophia
began her teaching career as a teaching assistant alongside her mum and cousin Elisa. Sophia enjoys all aspects of dance including Salsa! She is to be complimented on the introduction to the school of Musical Theatre classes which she has built into a successful, thriving department where pupils are encouraged to develop individuality, sense of performance and voice projection. Togetherwith Elisa, Sophia has enjoyed developing our 2nd branch at Silcoates Sunny Hill House School in Wrenthorpe where children are coached in Musical Theatre. Most recently, Sophia was thrilled to be asked by Leeds Youth Opera to choreograph our own senior dancers in their production of Orpheus and the Underworld at the Carriageworks Theatre Leeds, to great critical acclaim. |

From taking part in ITV’s Junior Showtime, pantomimes and shows to being a member of the winning team at the 1981 IDTA disco championship in Blackpool, Anna always
had the support of her mum and family. Anna qualified as a dance teacher with the IDTA 35 years ago and has taught at theatre schools in the Yorkshire area. Anna joined her niece,
Elisa, ten years ago as head of juniors at the Martinicca Theatre School.
For the past 19 years Anna has devoted her time and experience to the dancing career of her own daughter, Sophia,
who herself is an accomplished dancer and performer now teaching at the Martinicca Theatre School.
Anna would like to thank her husband Adrian and daughter Sophia for their unfailing support which has enabled Anna to juggle teaching with a full time Professional Sales role. |
